Brauerei Greifenklau sits on Laurenziplatz on the Kaulberg, one of Bamberg's seven hills, and traces its brewing roots to 1719, when the cathedral canon Franz Friedrich von Greifenklau had an inn and brewhouse built there. Brewmaster Sigmund Brockard bought the run-down property in 1914 and had his beer brewed elsewhere until 1919. Today the fourth generation, brewer Sigmund Brockard and his sister Ulrike Göller, runs brewery, inn and beer garden above a three-storey rock cellar; the brewhouse was renewed in 2021.
