Asahi Breweries traces its origins to the Osaka Beer Company, founded in 1889, which launched the Asahi Beer brand in 1892 from its brewery in Suita. Today the company is based in Tokyo and brews at six plants across Japan, from Hokkaido to Hakata. Its best-known product, Super Dry, arrived in 1987 and started the Japanese dry beer category. Asahi Breweries belongs to the Asahi Group. In late September 2025 a cyberattack halted production at all plants; shipments resumed step by step until April 2026.
