Steppe

Tap to rate

A 4.7% pale ale, hoppy and fruity with a resinous edge, hopped with Admiral, Jester, Strata and Wolf on a base of barley, oats and wheat. It is named after the Mongolian steppe, a grassland of some 887,000 square kilometres that has fascinated the brewery's resident artist since childhood, when the country's horse-riding culture caught her imagination. One of several beers named after places on the team's wish lists. Sold in cans and on draught.

◐ Taste

The palate entry is clean and crisp, with a moderate body supported by the cereal sweetness of oats and wheat. Mid-palate brings fruity hop expression balanced against a gentle, measured bitterness that peaks without dominating. The resinous quality provides textural grip, while the 35 IBU restraint allows the malt sweetness and fruit character to remain prominent.

Serve at 7–10°C

Cold enough to sharpen the hop aroma without numbing the palate. Around 7–9°C keeps the citrus and pine vivid without losing bitterness definition.

Pint glass

The classic — versatile, comfortable to hold and keeps the beer cool. No frills, no distractions: just the beer.

Drink fresh — hop aroma fades fast. Best within 3 months of canning or bottling.
