Debut

Tap to rate

The first recipe the brewery piloted – though it took three attempts before release, which made it one of the later beers to reach the bar. It has been brought back ever since. A pale, hazy and quenching IPA at 5.5%: passionfruit, mango, blueberry and citrus in the aroma, from a Chinook and Citra base with a double dose of Simcoe and Mosaic in the dry hop. Oats in the grist give a rounded mouthfeel. Sold in cans.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with bright tropical fruit—passionfruit and ripe mango dominate, supported by a subtle blueberry undertone and clean citrus notes. Chinook and Citra provide the foundational citrus character, while the heavy Simcoe and Mosaic dry hop charge adds depth and a slightly herbal edge. Malted oats contribute a soft, grainy sweetness that frames the hop profile without dominating.

The palate is clean and quenching, with the tropical hop character translating well from the nose into a rounded, slightly sweet entry. Sixty IBUs provide measured bitterness that sits mid-palate without aggression, allowing the fruit and citrus notes to remain prominent. Serve at 8–11°C

Serve well-chilled. Session IPAs are at their best cold — the lower ABV means less warmth to balance the hops.

Tulip glass

The curved shape concentrates hop aromas and supports a thick head. Essential for aromatic ales and IPAs where the nose is half the experience.

Drink fresh. Session IPAs are brewed to be consumed young — the hops are at their best now.

Style guide · what to expect · how to find alternatives

What is a IPA?

IPAs are hop-forward ales with 5.5–7.5% ABV and IBU 40–70+. Bold hop aroma — citrus, tropical, resinous — with firm bitterness and a dry, clean finish.

Finding a similar IPA

hopIQ matches by flavor profile — not just style label. A beer with the same clean, tropical, hoppy character as Debut will score highly even if brewed in a different country or under a different sub-style name.
