Jaipur X

Tap to rate

An explosion of grapefruit and lemon in the aroma, then a light honey and apricot sweetness in harmony with a refined hoppy bitterness, a hint of navel orange and an enveloping warmth on the finish. This version uses all the same ingredients as the flagship, amped up to 10% for an imperial IPA. The first Jaipur X appeared in 2015 for the brewery's tenth anniversary.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with an assertive grapefruit and lemon character from the noble hops, layered with subtle notes of navel orange and stone fruit. Beneath the citrus complexity, a delicate honey sweetness and apricot undertone emerge from the malt foundation. The aromatic profile is focused and clean, with no harsh solvent notes despite the 10% ABV.

◐ Taste

Entry is smooth and full-bodied, allowing the hop bitterness to unfold gradually across the palate rather than dominate immediately. Mid-palate reveals a harmonious interplay between refined, structured bitterness and the underlying honey-apricot sweetness, with traces of light caramel from the base malt. The 80 IBUs provide substantial grip without obscuring the beer's overall balance.

◑ Finish

The finish is long and warming, with the alcohol providing an enveloping heat that accentuates the lingering hop bitterness and citrus notes. Aftertaste remains dry and slightly peppery, inviting another sip without becoming cloying.
