🌍 Japan · Helles Lager · One of 163 Helles Lagers in hopIQ

Launched in 1985 for sale only in Hokkaido and brewed at the company's brewery in Eniwa, Classic is an unpasteurised lager made from malt alone, without the rice and maize of the national range. It is hopped only with fine aroma varieties, part of them grown in Hokkaido alongside some local barley, and mashed with a German high-short schedule. It pours bright gold with a gentle floral hop aroma over soft bread and cracker malt; the palate is rounder and maltier than the adjunct lagers, yet stays clean, with a light, brief bitterness.
