Real Ale Coffee Porter

Tap to rate

A dark, malty porter with coffee notes and a dry finish. It grew out of owner Brad Farbstein's homebrewing experiments in college, and fresh, cold-brewed organic fair-trade coffee from Houston goes in just before packaging. It is a winter seasonal, available from November to January. Brewed at 6.6% ABV and 35 IBU.

◐ Taste

Coffee flavors lead the palate on entry, rich and only moderately bitter despite the adjunct's presence. Mid-palate reveals deep malty sweetness balanced by roasted grain character and hints of cocoa and black licorice. The 35 IBU bitterness provides clean definition without harshness, building toward a decidedly dry finish.
