Freewheelin' Hazy NZ IPA

Tap to rate

Freewheelin' is a hazy IPA hopped entirely with New Zealand varieties, Cascade and Riwaka. The result is a heady mix of grapefruit, kumquat and Meyer lemon, with flashes of tropical fruit and juicy nectarine. Light Munich malt keeps a soft base under the citrus, the bitterness stays moderate and the beer drinks easily for its 5.8 %. It appeared in late 2025 as a southern-hemisphere counterpart to the house IPAs.

◎ Appearance

Pale golden hue with a distinctly hazy, turbid body from suspended yeast and hop matter. The dense, creamy white head forms readily and clings to the glass with good retention. Fine carbonation creates an effervescent quality appropriate to the style.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with bright citrus notes of fresh grapefruit and Meyer lemon, followed by supporting tropical fruit character and hints of juicy stone fruit. Light Munich malt provides a soft, grainy foundation that does not compete with the hop-driven aromatics. New Zealand Cascade and Riwaka varieties deliver a clean, lifted profile without harsh herbaceous edges.
