◎ Appearance

Nearly black in color with ruby glints visible when held to light, revealing the beer's translucent character. A dense, soft tan head forms and persists, building a fine lacing that gradually clings to the glass. The carbonation is moderate and well-integrated, creating a refined visual presentation without excess effervescence.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with roasted grain and black coffee, grounded by subtle notes of dark chocolate and cocoa. Beneath these primary roast characters, delicate hazelnut and toasted almond emerge, while a gentle smokiness from the malt bill adds complexity. The single Northern Brewer hop variety contributes restrained bittering without aggressive floral or herbal intrusion.

Entry is smooth and approachable despite the full roast profile. Mid-palate develops layers of bitter chocolate and espresso notes, while oats contribute a soft, silken texture that softens the rough edges of the dark grains. The bitterness is present but measured at 36 IBU, allowing the roast character and nutty undertones to balance the palate without becoming harsh.

The finish is distinctly dry, with roasted grain and coffee lingering cleanly on the palate. The oats leave a crisp, drying sensation that prevents any cloying sweetness and encourages further sips.
