🌍 Canada · Witbier · One of 58 Witbiers in hopIQ

Created for the brewery's 25th anniversary in 2013 and first sold under that anniversary name. Raw wheat, coriander and orange peel sit over pale and caramel malt, and the beer is dry-hopped with Hallertau, Willamette and Cascade. Candied orange and marmalade lead, coriander follows, and a caramel sweetness runs underneath that a plain wheat beer would not carry. It stays unfiltered, the body is fuller than the style suggests and the finish is long and mildly bitter.

Tasting Notes

AI-generated sensory profile for Double Blanche du Lac

Appearance

Pale straw-yellow with a hazy, opalescent character that remains unfiltered. The head is dense and persistent, clinging to the glass with fine lacing. Bright carbonation lifts the suspended grain particles, creating an inviting, cloudy appearance characteristic of the style.

Aroma

Candied orange and marmalade lead the nose with a bright, citrus-forward character. Coriander brings an herbal, slightly peppery counterpoint, while the dry-hop blend of Hallertau, Willamette and Cascade adds subtle floral and piney undertones. Beneath these aromatic layers lies a soft, grainy maltiness that grounds the composition without dominating.

Taste

The palate opens with bright orange and marmalade sweetness, followed by a distinctive coriander warmth that extends across the mid-palate. A fuller body than typical witbier carries caramel notes that add depth and richness. Bitterness emerges gradually in the mid-palate and builds steadily, creating tension between sweetness and a dry, herbal edge.

Finish

The finish is notably long and dry, with lingering coriander spice and a mildly bitter, herbal aftertaste. The caramel sweetness recedes, leaving a clean, slightly peppery conclusion that invites the next sip.

Serve & Enjoy

How to get the most out of Double Blanche du Lac

Serve at 5–8°C
Refrigerate, then rest 2 min

Serve cold to preserve the delicate citrus and spice aromas. Too warm and the yeast esters become heavy — too cold and the coriander disappears.

Witbier glass
Recommended for this style

The tall, slender wheat beer glass holds the full 50cl pour and shows off the hazy golden colour. The wide mouth lets citrus and spice aromas drift upward freely.

Best consumed fresh. Citrus and spice notes fade after 3–4 months. Drink within 6 months of packaging.
