Kocour K 31°

Tap to rate

A top-fermented speciality at 31° original gravity, which the brewery calls its own "cat" interpretation of the strongest beers brewed anywhere. It points out that plenty of people have conquered the summit of K2 by now, but few have conquered K31. Kocour makes it in Varnsdorf, in the far north of Czechia, in a former ceramic factory of the Böttcher brothers.

◐ Taste

The palate enters full and syrupy, with pronounced caramel sweetness and rich malt character that evolves into dark fruit complexity—blackcurrant and prune. A measured bitterness of 59 IBU surfaces midway, providing structure and preventing cloying. The finish brings a lingering drying effect offset by residual sweetness, holding the balance characteristic of the style.

◑ Finish

The finish is sustained and warming, with boozy notes gradually taking prominence as the beer warms on the palate. A dry, slightly spiced aftertaste persists, leaving behind memories of malt and stone fruit.
