Kernel Brown Ale
Somewhere between a northern English and an American brown ale, brewed with malted barley and oats. Medium-bodied, with toasted nuts and dark caramel balanced by hop bitterness and gentle hop aromas; a small share of beech-smoked malt adds a subtle extra layer. The brewery has made it since 2013 and now brings it back as a seasonal, each time with different varieties, most recently Taiheke and Cascade at 5.2 per cent. It appears mainly on cask and draught.
