Schiehallion

Tap to rate

Named after a mountain in Perthshire and first brewed in 1994, Schiehallion is a lager made with lager malt and a high share of wheat malt, cold-fermented with bottom-fermenting yeast and given a large late addition of Challenger, Hersbrucker, Celeia and Bobek. It pours golden with a dense white head. Grapefruit zest and grassy, floral hop notes lead the aroma over light bready malt. The palate is crisp and dry with moderate bitterness, the finish long and citrusy. Unusually for a beer of this kind, it is also sold cask-conditioned.

About Pale Lager

Style guide · what to expect · how to find alternatives

What is a Pale Lager?

Euro Pale Lagers are clean, refreshing lagers with 4–5.5% ABV and IBU 10–25. Soft malt sweetness, light hop bitterness and high carbonation make them supremely drinkable.

Finding a similar Pale Lager

hopIQ matches by flavor profile — not just style label. A beer with the same dry, crisp, citrusy character as Schiehallion will score highly even if brewed in a different country or under a different sub-style name.
