🌍 United States · English IPA · One of 9 English IPAs in hopIQ

A British-style IPA, by the brewery's own description, named with some irony after Oliver Hazard Perry, who defeated the Royal Navy on Lake Erie in 1813. Caramel 30 over two-row base malt builds a firm backbone, and Apollo, Simcoe, Willamette and Cascade supply the bitterness. It pours clear copper-gold. Pine resin, citrus peel and an herbal, peppery note come from the hops, caramel and light brown sugar from the malt, and the high bitterness leads into a dry, faintly fruity finish.
