Sabotage

Tap to rate

Sabotage is the brewery's long-running IPA, launched in 2013 as the third beer in its regular line-up. Trouble hops it with five varieties from around the world and lists a share of crystal rye malt in the grist. The result is an assertive hoppy bite of both citrus and spice over a strong, full body. The malt side carries a clear caramel note. Grapefruit is the clearest citrus thread, and the bitterness is pronounced with real bite.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with a smooth caramel sweetness from the malt that carries into the mid-palate before transitioning to a pronounced, biting bitterness. The hop bitterness builds progressively and has real bite, never turning harsh. The citrus from the aroma reappears briefly on the palate, anchoring the bitterness with a dry, clean quality.

◑ Finish

The finish is dry and assertive, with lingering bitterness that fades gradually over several minutes. A subtle malt sweetness persists in the background, preventing the aftertaste from becoming one-dimensional.

About English IPA

Style guide · what to expect · how to find alternatives

What is a English IPA?

IPAs are hop-forward ales with 5.5–7.5% ABV and IBU 40–70+. Bold hop aroma — citrus, tropical, resinous — with firm bitterness and a dry, clean finish.

Finding a similar English IPA

hopIQ matches by flavor profile — not just style label. A beer with the same hoppy, full-bodied, citrusy character as Sabotage will score highly even if brewed in a different country or under a different sub-style name.
