Easy Trail

Tap to rate

Easy Trail leads with juicy berry and clean citrus and closes on crisp pine. Simcoe, Amarillo, Mosaic and Cascade drive the hops in this 4.2% West Coast session IPA, built on pale malt, torrefied wheat and oats. It began in 2018 as a spin-off from the Workbench IPA project, a lighter take on what the brewers learned there, and won Gold at SIBA Scotland in 2025.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with ripe berry notes—blackcurrant and stone fruit—layered over clean citrus zest from the Amarillo and Cascade hops. Mosaic and Simcoe contribute herbal depth and subtle floral edges. ◐ Taste

Entry is crisp and light-bodied, allowing the berry and citrus notes to develop quickly across the palate. Mid-palate holds balanced bitterness at 40 IBU—enough to frame the hops without astringency. Serve at 7–10°C

Serve well-chilled. Session IPAs are at their best cold — the lower ABV means less warmth to balance the hops.

Tulip glass

The curved shape concentrates hop aromas and supports a thick head. Essential for aromatic ales and IPAs where the nose is half the experience.

Drink fresh. Session IPAs are brewed to be consumed young — the hops are at their best now.

What is a Session IPA?

IPAs are hop-forward ales with 5.5–7.5% ABV and IBU 40–70+. Bold hop aroma — citrus, tropical, resinous — with firm bitterness and a dry, clean finish.

Finding a similar Session IPA

hopIQ matches by flavor profile — not just style label. A beer with the same piney, berry, hoppy character as Easy Trail will score highly even if brewed in a different country or under a different sub-style name.
