Jacobator

Tap to rate

A strong, dark double bock under a firm white head: spicy, yet fine and mild on the palate. 7.5% alcohol. Monks once drank such specialities to get through Lent, the most famous of them Pater Barnabas, nephew of Bodenwöhr's first master brewer Peter Still (1758). Brewed by the Familienbrauerei Jacob with local spring water and the brewery's own yeast.

◐ Taste

The palate enters smooth and full-bodied, with prominent spiced malt and a refined bitterness that never dominates the profile. Mid-palate reveals rich, malty sweetness with roasted grain depth and hints of dark stone fruit, while the 7.5% alcohol provides warmth and body without excessive hotness. The finish carries lingering spice and malt complexity without cloying.
