🌍 Germany · Hefeweizen · One of 175 Hefeweizens in hopIQ

Launched in 1998 as what the brewery calls the first winter wheat beer, Schneeweiße is sold from October to February. It pours amber with a slight reddish sheen under an ivory head. The aroma is malt-led and honey-sweet with a hint of berries; on the palate, velvety malt and a trace of sweetness carry a strong body with delicate notes of red berries and nuts. Carbonation prickles finely on the tongue, and a restrained hop bitterness gives the finish structure. It matures a second time in the bottle. Original gravity 12.9 °P.

Taste

The palate enters with velvety malt richness and residual honey sweetness that gives the beer substantial body and presence. Restrained hop bitterness arrives in the closing moments, providing structural definition without dominating, while fine carbonation maintains a brisk texture throughout.

How to get the most out of Erdinger Schneeweiße

Serve at 5–8°C
Refrigerate, then rest 2 min

Slightly warmer than a lager — 8–12°C allows the banana and clove esters from the yeast to fully develop.

Weizen glass
Recommended for this style

Tall and narrow at the base, flaring at the top — designed to hold the abundant foam of a wheat beer while showcasing its hazy golden body.

Best fresh. The yeast-driven banana and clove character fades over time. Drink within 4 months.
