Adventure Defender

Tap to rate

Adventure Defender is a session IPA first brewed in 2024 as a small custom batch for a shop in Norwich and since kept on as a seasonal. El Dorado, Galaxy and Mosaic in the dry hop make it distinctly tropical: mango and nectarine lead, with lime and other citrus behind them. Extra pale and wheat malt keep the body light, the palate is juicy, and the finish is brief and zesty.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with pronounced tropical fruit character: ripe mango and nectarine dominate, followed by lime and bright citrus notes. The El Dorado, Galaxy, and Mosaic hops work in harmony to create a fruit-forward aromatic profile without sharp pine or resinous edges. Subtle grain sweetness from the pale and wheat malt base remains discreet beneath the hop expression.

◐ Taste

The palate enters with an immediate tropical fruit impression, echoing the aroma with juicy stone fruit and citrus flavors. The light body from extra pale and wheat malt allows the hop character to shine without heaviness, while moderate bitterness at forty IBUs provides structure and balance. The mouthfeel remains crisp and refreshing throughout, with a clean, dry quality that invites continued sipping.

◑ Finish

The finish is brief and zesty, with citrus notes lingering only momentarily before fading cleanly. A subtle drying sensation remains, leaving the palate ready for the next sip rather than coating it.

Serve at 7–10°C

Serve well-chilled. Session IPAs are at their best cold — the lower ABV means less warmth to balance the hops.

Tulip glass

The curved shape concentrates hop aromas and supports a thick head. Essential for aromatic ales and IPAs where the nose is half the experience.

Drink fresh. Session IPAs are brewed to be consumed young — the hops are at their best now.
