Duration Harvest Bier

Tap to rate

Harvest Bier is a Märzen brewed every year since 2020 for the Oktoberfest held at the brewery. The amber lager is led by its malt: toast, biscuit and caramel in the aroma, bread crust on the palate. German hops, among them Tettnang and Mittelfrüh, stay in the background and the bitterness is low, serving only to round out the body. Despite the rich malt character the beer finishes clean and dry.

Tasting Notes

AI-generated sensory profile for Duration Harvest Bier

◎ Appearance

Harvest Bier presents a clear amber body with a warm, burnished hue characteristic of the Märzen style. A modest white head forms and settles to a thin collar, with fine lacing clinging to the glass as the beer is consumed. Carbonation is gentle and measured, befitting this traditional lager.

◌ Aroma

The nose is dominated by malt-forward aromatics: prominent toast and biscuit notes are joined by a subtle caramel sweetness that hints at the beer's depth without becoming cloying. German noble hops—Tettnang and Mittelfrüh among them—remain restrained in the background, contributing only a faint herbal whisper that does not compete with the malt foundation.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with bread crust flavors that frame a balanced malt character, neither sweet nor thin. Mid-palate reveals the beer's body and subtle caramel depth without excessive richness. Bittering from the noble hops is low and rounded, serving chiefly to define the beer's structure rather than provide assertive bite.

◑ Finish

The finish is clean and dry, with no lingering sweetness to interrupt the beer's natural drying quality. The aftertaste echoes the toasted malt briefly before fading, leaving the palate refreshed and ready for the next sip.

About Märzen

Style guide · what to expect · how to find alternatives

What is a Märzen?

Märzens are Bavarian lagers with 5.8–6.3% ABV. Rich toasty malt — bread, caramel, biscuit — with clean lager fermentation and low bitterness.

Finding a similar Märzen

hopIQ matches by flavor profile — not just style label. A beer with the same toasty, clean, dry character as Duration Harvest Bier will score highly even if brewed in a different country or under a different sub-style name.
