🌍 Belgium · Belgian Tripel · One of 38 Belgian Tripels in hopIQ

Westmalle Duo is the brewery's answer to a question between two of its own classics: a golden-blonde tripel that borrows the crisp structure of the Extra while keeping the fruity body of the Tripel. Six hop varieties weave through a balance of spice and orchard fruit — apple and pear meeting the herbal freshness Belgian hops bring. The palate is full and creamy, the bitterness understated at 32 IBU, and the finish turns gently fruity with an aftertaste that lingers. A beer for unhurried drinking. Serve cool, in a tulip glass.

Taste

The palate enters smooth and full-bodied, with a creamy mouthfeel that belies the moderate alcohol at 7.2%. Fruity notes continue through the mid-palate, complemented by gentle herbal and spicy undertones; the 32 IBU bitterness remains restrained and integrated rather than assertive. A refined balance emerges between sweetness and hop character, neither overwhelming the other.

The wide mouth and heavy base promote head formation and channel rich aromatics toward the nose. Traditional for Belgian strong ales.

Drink within 2 years. Some complexity develops with age but the yeast character is best relatively fresh.
