An intense, wine-like aroma with ripe fruit, oak and vanilla, finishing in a soft, round aftertaste. This Oude Schaarbeekse Kriek of the 2020 vintage was made from Schaarbeek cherries harvested that summer, 270 grams per litre, fermented with lambic that had already aged 18 months, then six more months in oak. Bottled on 19 October 2021 and refermented in the bottle, it can keep ageing for years. 6.5 % ABV.

◐ Taste

The palate enters soft and round, the cherry fruit expressing itself with both ripe sweetness and tart acidity in equal measure. Mid-palate unfolds with dry oakiness and a gentle funky fermentation character that balances against the fruit's natural sugars, creating a wine-like mouthfeel. The finish trails into a restrained dryness without aggressive bitterness, the IBU of 10 merely framing rather than dominating.
