Ganscha Hanfbier

Tap to rate

Naturally hazy hemp Zwickl made with Purple Star hemp from Ulrichsberg and hemp flour, from an idea by Karl Schiffner. Light yellow with a delicate floral note and a ripe, Mediterranean spice tone; a refreshing first sip shows the hemp flavour clearly, backed by a nutty malt character and a graceful hop backbone, and the hemp comes into its own in the finish. The name is a Mühlviertel spelling of ganja. 5.3% ABV.

◎ Appearance

Light yellow with natural cloudiness throughout, presenting the characteristic haze of a fresh Zwickl. The head is modest but stable, with fine carbonation visible in the glass. Sediment from the hemp flour and yeast remains in suspension, contributing to the opaque, inviting appearance.

◐ Taste

The entry is immediately refreshing, with hemp flavour taking centre stage on the front palate. A graceful hop backbone provides structure and gentle bitterness (30 IBU), while nutty malt character adds richness and subtle sweetness. The mid-palate balances these elements with elegant restraint, allowing each component to speak without conflict.
