Tap to rate

A top-fermented bock from the open vat, a combination that is rarely brewed. For all its weight it stays sparkling: fruity and slightly honey-sweet, with layered flavours from the speciality malts. The grist is malted wheat and barley with a dark caramel and a caramel wheat malt, hopped with Tettnanger Perle. Original gravity is 16.4 percent. It is poured from mid-October until early January.

◐ Taste

Entry is full and sweet, with pronounced caramel malt and a honey-like roundness that mirrors the brewery's seasonal positioning. Mid-palate develops complexity from the dark caramel and caramel wheat malts, balanced by gentle herbal bitterness and a light peppery finish from the hops. At 7.1% ABV and only 20 IBU, the weight sits comfortably without cloying, the carbonation keeping the beer lively on the palate.
