hopIQ found 10 beers with the same herbal and dry character as Kumpeni. Kumpeni goes back to the community brew at the 2020 Grutkultur festival in Münster, where ten breweries made a gruit together. The current version is seasoned only with hops and wormwood, which went into the cooling wort together with juice and peel of blood and bitter oranges, on a base of Münstersch Alt. The beer then aged two and a half years in red wine barrels. It shows a fine herbal bitterness and orange oil over a vinous, tart body, with a dry, aromatic finish.
