The nose opens with pronounced sweetness reminiscent of praline and toffee, followed by rich cocoa and roasted grain notes from the floor-malted barley. A subtle earthiness emerges beneath, with hints of tobacco leaf and dried leather that speak to the beer's heritage character.

Sweet praline and chocolate dominate the initial palate, transitioning to deeper cacao bitterness in the mid-palate. The 33 IBUs manifest as balanced, earthy bitterness rather than aggressive hop character, allowing notes of tobacco and leather to weave through with restraint. The traditional Fuggles hopping contributes a subtle, refined spiciness.
