Pours a deep ebony black with excellent clarity. A dense, persistent head forms and clings to the glass with fine lacing as you work through the pour. The carbonation is restrained, befitting the style's traditional character.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with roasted coffee and dark malt—black malt's signature character dominates. Beneath lies a subtle liquorice thread and hints of oak wood, with a faint earthiness that suggests careful kilning. No sharp or acrid notes; the roast is measured and inviting.

◐ Geschmack

The palate is full-bodied and smooth, with coffee and roast holding center stage while brown malt introduces a dry, bracing quality that prevents the beer from feeling heavy. A restrained chocolatey sweetness sits in the mid-palate. The bitterness is moderate and herbaceous, arriving late and cutting cleanly through the malt backbone.

The finish is crisp and lingering, with the hoppy note persisting as a dry, slightly smoky aftertaste. The beer closes with clarity and balance, inviting another sip without demanding it.
