Schwarzer Hahn presents a dark brown to nearly black body beneath a fine, creamy head that settles into persistent lacing. The unfiltered character creates a subtle haze that catches light at the edges, while gentle carbonation rises through the glass. Head retention remains stable throughout the pour, marking this as a well-structured dark lager.

◌ Aroma

Roasted malt dominates the nose with earthy, grounding tones. Cocoa and milky coffee notes emerge clearly, supported by a light caramel sweetness that rounds the overall impression. The noble hop character remains restrained and supportive, allowing the malt-driven profile to take centre stage.

◐ Geschmack

The palate enters soft and full-bodied despite the modest 4.7% ABV, with roasted grain and gentle cocoa flavours building through the mid-palate. A light sweetness balances throughout, while the 25 IBU sit low enough to avoid sharp edges. The beer maintains a refined malt backbone without astringency or excessive dryness.

The finish remains malty and soft, closing with the same gentle character that defined the mid-palate. No harsh bite or sharp aftertaste emerges; instead, a warm, slightly sweet malt impression lingers pleasantly on the palate.
