◎ Aussehen

Duvel pours a brilliant pale gold that catches the light with crystalline clarity. The head is voluminous and pristine white, rising well above the rim and displaying exceptional retention—a hallmark of its triple fermentation and bottle conditioning. Fine carbonation creates an almost champagne-like bead that persists throughout the glass.

◌ Aroma

The nose is immediately inviting, leading with bright stone fruit—fresh pear and green apple—courtesy of the house yeast strain. White pepper and subtle spice notes emerge beneath, layered with restrained floral and noble hop character that adds refinement without dominating. The overall impression is clean and mineral-driven, with no cooked or solvent notes despite the alcohol content.

◐ Geschmack

The palate is bone dry from the outset, with aggressive carbonation creating a bright, almost prickling sensation that cuts through the mid-palate. Yeast-derived fruitiness remains the anchor, though the bitterness—restrained at 30 IBU—provides structure without harshness. The alcohol warms subtly on the back palate yet remains well integrated, never hot or astringent.

◑ Abgang

The finish is exceptionally clean and extends with surprising length, the dryness lingering alongside a gentle warming sensation. The aftertaste carries residual white pepper and fruit notes, fading to a mineral dryness that invites the next sip.

Wärmer als die meisten — 12–14°C. Die fruchtigen Ester, Gewürze und der wärmende Alkohol brauchen Raum zur Entfaltung.
