Suntory
Suntory traces back to the wine shop Shinjiro Torii opened in Osaka in 1899. Its first venture into beer began in 1929 at a brewery in Tsurumi, Yokohama, sold from 1930 as Oraga Beer and given up again in 1934. The company returned to brewing in 1963, when the Musashino brewery in Fuchu, Tokyo, started production. The all-malt Malt's followed in 1986 and The Premium Malt's in 2003. Production now runs at four breweries located at natural water sources, and since 1 July 2022 the business has been part of Suntory Ltd.
