Kapuziner is the wheat-beer brand of Kulmbacher Brauerei and brews nothing but top-fermented Weißbier. The name goes back to the Kapuzinerbräu of nearby Mainleus, which became a public company in 1897, moved its brewing to Kulmbach in 1906 and closed in 1919; Mönchshof bought the name. After Reichelbräu and Mönchshof merged in 1984, it was revived for a joint wheat beer, first brewed in 1985 at the Mönchshof. Today the range covers seven wheat beers, from pale and dark to filtered, light and alcohol-free.
