Hütt is the beer brand of the Knallhütte, an old inn in Baunatal-Rengershausen south of Kassel, where Johann Friedrich Pierson received brewing rights in 1752. Since December 2025 the beers have been brewed at Schlossbrauerei Rheder in Brakel, Westphalia, to the original recipes, after the Bettenhäuser family closed the Baunatal brewery after nine generations and a last output of about 53,000 hectolitres a year. The name recalls carters cracking their whips on the climb to the inn. Rheder also took over Hessisches Löwenbier from Malsfeld, run as a brand since 2015.
