Great Northern Brewing Co. is a Queensland lager brand created in 2010 by Carlton & United Breweries and brewed at the Yatala brewery south of Brisbane. The name goes back to the Great Northern Brewery in Cairns, acquired by CUB in 1931 and closed long ago. The range was developed for the humid tropical north: a full-strength Original, a mid-strength and a light version, and a 0.0 percent beer, all pale and low in bitterness. Great Northern has since grown into one of the highest-selling beer brands in Australia. CUB has belonged to Asahi since 2020.
