Founded in 2013 by Doug Reiser, Jessica Reiser, and Tim Gormley in Asheville's South Slope District, Burial Beer Co. takes its name from the New Orleans Jazz Funeral tradition — a nod to the cycle of grain and hops through life and renewal. The brewery covers a wide range, from pilsners and pale ales to Triple IPAs and Imperial Stouts, without anchoring itself to any single style. Its label artwork is as distinctive as the beers, with each release carrying its own visual identity. Burial has since expanded beyond Asheville with a second taproom in Raleigh.
