Bolten Brauerei
The brewery works the Kraushof in Neersbroich, a district of Korschenbroich on the Lower Rhine, and calls itself the world's oldest Altbier brewery: it dates its brewing right to 1266, when the lords of Myllendonk granted it to Heinrich the Brewer. Peter Bolten leased the farm in 1753 and bought it in 1774. The last family head, Hans-Otto Bolten, stepped down in 2005; Michael Hollmann took over, joined by Paul Bösken-Diebels in 2006. The independent house has owned the Hannen Alt and Gatz Altbier brands since April 2022.

How we measure this
Two thresholds are at work here:
- The signature list shows notes that recur in at least 6% of this brewery's beers. A low bar — enough to flag a pattern, not high enough to call it an exclusive trait.
- The peer comparison below shows only notes where this brewery's coverage differs from similar breweries by at least 20 percentage points. A higher bar — enough to call a real difference, not a nudge.
A note can appear on the signature list without appearing in the peer comparison: it recurs here, but similar breweries do the same thing.
BOLTENs Jecken Spezial
Their beers place in the Top 51% of the catalogue on average, across 9 ranked beers. One clear standout well ahead of the rest.
