Baird Brewing Company is a craft brewery founded in March 2000 in Numazu, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, by American expat Bryan Baird and his Japanese wife Sayuri Baird. The couple opened their first taproom — the Fishmarket Taproom — in July 2000 and received their brewing licence in December of that year, with commercial beers first released in 2001. When it launched, Baird was the smallest licensed brewery in Japan. The brewery expanded significantly over the following decade, winning three gold medals at the World Beer Cup in 2010, and now operates multiple taprooms across Japan.
