Greece's largest brewery by volume and the home of Fix — Athenian Brewery was founded in 1963 in Athens and has been majority owned by Heineken since 1999. The brewery revived the historic Fix Hellas brand (first brewed in 1864 by Bavarian immigrant Johann Karl Fix, the father of Greek beer) in 2012, bringing back Greece's oldest and most historically significant beer label. Athenian Brewery also produces Heineken and Amstel locally for the Greek market.
