Broid

Tap to rate

A fruity, hazy IPA that replaces part of the grain with day-old organic rye bread from a Hamburg bakery, a way of using bread that would otherwise be thrown away. Oat flakes are part of the grist as well. Four hop varieties are used heavily: Ariana, Cascade, Hüll Melon and Mandarina Bavaria. Bitterness is restrained. Original gravity 16 °P, unfiltered and unpasteurised.

Tasting Notes

AI-generated sensory profile for Broid

◎ Appearance

Broid presents a pale golden hue with pronounced haziness from suspended yeast and oat proteins, creating an opaque yet luminous appearance. The head rises with vigor and clings persistently to the glass in delicate lacing. Fine carbonation produces a steady stream of small bubbles that sustain the foam collar throughout the pour.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with bright citrus and stone fruit notes from Mandarina Bavaria and Cascade hops, layered with melon undertones from Hüll Melon. A subtle breadiness emerges beneath, grounding the aromatic profile with hints of rye crust and toasted grain. The yeast contributes a soft, slightly herbaceous character without sharp phenolic edges.

◐ Taste

The palate enters with a soft, fruity sweetness before developing a gentle bitterness at mid-palate. Stone fruit and citrus flavors unfold gradually, with the rye bread adjunct adding a faint grain complexity and slight minerality. The oat flakes contribute body and a silky mouthfeel, while the 50 IBU restrain harshness and allow the hop character to remain refreshing and balanced.

◑ Finish

The finish is clean and medium-length, with lingering citrus and melon notes fading to a dry, slightly grainy baseline. A whisper of bread crust persists in the aftertaste, inviting another sip without demanding attention.
