Dreamcatcher

Tap to rate

Extremely fruity with a very soft bitterness: DDH stands for double dry hopped, which means twice as much dry hopping. Sabro and Mosaic, Van Moll's favourite American hop pairing, sit on a base of pale malt, oat flakes and rye, giving a light blond hazy IPA at 10 EBC. The brewery ends its description with a nod to the Eurythmics. It returned in 2025 after time away.

◎ Appearance

A pale golden haze fills the glass, with a gauzy cloudiness from the double dry hop charge and suspended yeast. The head is modest but persistent, laying down a fine ring of lacing as the beer settles. Carbonation is gentle and present, appropriate to the soft character of the beer.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with stone fruit and citrus—apricot and grapefruit peel rise first from the Sabro and Mosaic pairing. Beneath sit whispers of tropical fruit, a touch of herbal earthiness, and a soft floral undertone. The oat and rye base contribute a faint grainy sweetness that keeps the hop character grounded rather than piercing.

◐ Taste

Entry is juicy and smooth, with stone fruit and citrus moving across the mid-palate in waves. The body is light and creamy—the oat flakes and rye provide a silken mouthfeel without weight. Bitterness emerges gently in the mid-palate and lingers as a fine, dry finish; at 24 IBU it never overwhelms, instead balancing the fruit sweetness with restraint.

◑ Finish

The finish is medium and clean, fading from citrus and stone fruit into a soft, dry aftertaste. No harsh edges or lingering harshness; the beer closes as it opened—refreshing and approachable.
