Tap to rate

Clove, banana and a hint of citrus run through this hoppy weizen with its rough-edged wheat bite. It was born in 2016, when the metal festival Dynamo Open Air asked Van Moll for a festival beer. Pils, wheat and Munich malts meet Saphir, Amarillo and Mosaic hops, 5.5% and 25 IBU, light blond and meant to refresh in summer and warm in winter.

Entry displays a characteristic rough-edged wheat bite followed by immediate clove and banana flavors from the yeast. Mid-palate reveals a crisp, refreshing quality with integrated citrus hop character and a subtle spicy-herbal note from Saphir and Mosaic. Serve at 5–8°C

Slightly warmer than a lager — 8–12°C allows the banana and clove esters from the yeast to fully develop.

Weizen glass

Tall and narrow at the base, flaring at the top — designed to hold the abundant foam of a wheat beer while showcasing its hazy golden body.

Best fresh. The yeast-driven banana and clove character fades over time. Drink within 4 months.
