Lord of the Horde

Tap to rate

Hop and fruit aromas drive this Hazy Double IPA, unfiltered, naturally cloudy and unpasteurised. The 2026 version was reworked, with Mosaic and Ekuanot taking the lead and Simcoe rounding out the edges. Barley, wheat and oat malt, hops and yeast build the 8% ABV beer. Brewed in Lübeck's Werftquartier, with the dry hop of those three varieties.

AI-generated sensory profile for Lord of the Horde

◎ Appearance

A pale golden hue with pronounced haze from suspended yeast and malt proteins, creating an opaque, cloudy body. The dense, creamy head exhibits strong lacing that clings to the glass as you drink. Fine carbonation supports the soft, pillowy foam structure characteristic of unfiltered, naturally cloudy brewing.

◌ Aroma

Mosaic and Ekuanot hops lead with ripe stone fruit and citrus zest—peach, apricot, and grapefruit peel dominate the nose. A resinous, piney undertone from Simcoe rounds the top notes, while a subtle wheat and oat grain sweetness emerges underneath. The yeast contribution adds a soft, fruity warmth without phenolic or solvent notes.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with a soft, fruity sweetness—dried apricot and orange—followed by a wave of hoppy bitterness that builds gradually through the mid-palate. Resinous and piney flavors persist alongside a wheaten grain body that feels full and creamy despite the low IBU (10). The bitterness remains restrained and integrated, never sharp, with herbal and citrus elements balancing the malt sweetness.

◑ Finish

The finish is dry and lingering, with citrus pith and resinous hop notes extending into the aftertaste. A subtle grain dryness persists without harshness, leaving the palate refreshed and ready for another sip.
