Big Ballard Imperial IPA

Tap to rate

A tribute to the Ballard neighborhood where Redhook began in 1981, Big Ballard debuted in 2010 and has long been a pub favorite. Citrus, pine and tropical fruit lead, with caramel notes alongside; it is bitter and dry, the hops lingering, with a deep golden body and a crisp finish. Six hop varieties (Chinook, Cascade, Vista, Centennial, Mosaic, Eureka) go into 8.6 % ABV.

◐ Taste

The palate enters with immediate bitterness and pronounced dryness, the six-variety hop bill driving a piney, citrus-forward profile. Mid-palate caramel notes provide momentary sweetness before the bitterness reasserts itself, building toward a lingering, dry finish. The 8.6 % ABV sits comfortably in the background.
