🌍 Germany · Dunkel · One of 71 Dunkels in hopIQ

A bottom-fermented, filtered dark lager, long sold under the name Jubeltrunk. At 13.5 °P it is brewed stronger than the house's pale lagers, fiery dark red with a firm, fine-pored head. The colour comes solely from the grain bill, with Munich malt at its core: bread crust, caramel and toffee, a nutty edge and a gently warming sweetness. Magnum, Select and Tradition hops stay in the background and keep the bitterness low. Smooth and full on the palate.

◌ Aroma

Bread crust and caramel lead the nose, with layered notes of toffee and subtle nuttiness emerging as the beer warms. The Munich malt forms the aromatic foundation, while Magnum, Select and Tradition hops remain restrained, contributing only gentle herbal undertones without any aggressive bittering character.

◐ Taste

Entry is soft and approachable, building into a smooth, full-bodied palate with prominent malt sweetness and a warming character. The mid-palate balances caramel and toffee notes against restrained noble hop bitterness, which never rises above 20 IBU. Clean fermentation allows the grain bill to shine without distraction.

◑ Finish

Medium finish with lingering sweetness and subtle toffee notes fading gradually. The aftertaste remains clean and malty, without harsh edges or excessive dryness.
