🌍 Germany · Weizenbock · One of 24 Weizenbocks in hopIQ

A pale wheat bock from the Werkstatt line, named after the breeding bull of a village. Pilsner and wheat malt are brewed to an original gravity of 24.5 °P, hopped with Tettnanger, Hallertauer Blanc and Cascade and dry-hopped with Mandarina Bavaria. It is honey-coloured and cloudy. The scent is sweet and fruity – tangerine and citrus from the dry hopping, with a grape-like note and herbal hops behind. The body is massive and sweet, which cushions the bitterness.

AI-generated sensory profile for Gmoastier

◎ Appearance

Honey-coloured with a hazy, cloudy appearance from suspended yeast and wheat protein. The head forms with moderate density and displays fair retention, leaving delicate trails of lacing down the glass. Carbonation is visible and brisk, though restrained for the style's strength.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with bright tangerine and citrus notes from Mandarina Bavaria dry-hopping, followed by a grape-like undertone characteristic of wheat and yeast. Behind this fruit-forward character sits a subtle herbal hop presence, balancing sweetness with earthy, noble-hop restraint. The overall impression is sweet and fruity without cloying intensity.

◐ Taste

Entry is soft and malty with substantial sweetness from the wheat and high original gravity, cushioning the modest 25 IBU bitterness effectively. The mid-palate delivers a full, rounded body with honeyed malts and residual fruit character, while the 9% ABV remains integrated and warming rather than harsh. Bitterness surfaces gradually in the background, herbal and refined, without dominating the predominantly sweet profile.

◑ Finish

The finish is of medium length with a lingering sweetness and gentle herbal bitterness that fades gradually. A warm, slightly drying sensation persists, with residual honeyed notes and a subtle tangerine echo.
