🌍 Czechia · Czech Premium Pale Lager · One of 11 Czech Premium Pale Lagers in hopIQ

A kräusened lager made for the opening of Svijany Castle, following old recipes for beer carried up to remote mountain huts before winter. The finished, filtered beer is refermented with actively fermenting wort, then racked into kegs and held at two degrees for at least four weeks to finish. It goes straight from the cellar to the customer.

AI-generated sensory profile for Zámek

Appearance

Zámek presents a pale golden hue with excellent clarity, characteristic of a well-finished Czech lager. The head forms with moderate density and displays fine Schaumhaftung, clinging to the glass as the level drops. Carbonation is evident but restrained, befitting a beer conditioned in cellar conditions for extended periods.

Aroma

The nose leads with soft Malz tones—grainy and slightly sweet, without heaviness. A delicate yeasty character emerges from the kräusening process, adding subtle depth and a touch of fresh earthiness. Noble hop aromatics appear as a gentle background note, contributing restraint and mineral-like quality rather than assertive florality.

Taste

The palate enters smooth and malty, with a natural sweetness that reflects the beer's heritage recipes without cloying. Mid-palate reveals crisp, clean character driven by refined fermentation and extended lagering—the yeast integration is seamless. Bitterness is low and integrated, allowing Malz structure and subtle hop definition to define the finish without sharpness.
