Hazy Rat

Tap to rate

Hazy Rat is a hazy session IPA and the lightest of the hop-led beers in the Rat line. The brewery names pineapple, citrus and cantaloupe melon as its main flavours and describes the texture as pillowy. The body is soft but slim, with a faint grainy sweetness, low bitterness and a fresh, fruity finish that makes it thirst-quenching rather than weighty. It has been available since autumn 2025 and is sold mainly on draught, with a small can appearing only in the mixed box.

◎ Appearance

Hazy Rat presents a pale golden hue with pronounced turbidity characteristic of the style, created by yeast and protein suspension rather than settling. The head forms with modest density and dissipates to a thin, fragile collar. Carbonation appears gentle and well-integrated, supporting a soft visual presence without aggressive bubbling.

Serve at 7–10°C

Serve well-chilled. Session IPAs are at their best cold — the lower ABV means less warmth to balance the hops.

Tulip glass

The curved shape concentrates hop aromas and supports a thick head. Essential for aromatic ales and IPAs where the nose is half the experience.

Drink fresh. Session IPAs are brewed to be consumed young — the hops are at their best now.

hopIQ matches by flavor profile — not just style label. A beer with the same hazy, tropical, light character as Hazy Rat will score highly even if brewed in a different country or under a different sub-style name.
