Siciliano 17

Tap to rate

Siciliano 17 is a double IPA that the brewery calls very drinkable, with a medium bitterness. Centennial and Simcoe bring tropical and resinous notes to taste and aroma, while Citra and Enigma go cold straight into the tank for a pronounced aroma. The 17 refers to degrees Stammwürze, the Czech way of naming strength. The malt is Pilsner only, and Simcoe and Centennial also go into the kettle.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with pronounced citrus and tropical stone fruit notes from the Citra and Enigma additions, layered with a resinous backbone from Simcoe and Centennial. ◐ Taste

Entry is smooth and balanced, with tropical and citrus notes developing immediately across the palate. Mid-palate reveals the resinous character and a medium, non-aggressive bitterness that complements rather than dominates. The finish carries lingering hoppy spice and subtle fruity dryness, with the malt providing enough body to prevent harshness.
