Hoegaarden presents a distinctly hazy, pale golden hue characteristic of traditional witbiers, with excellent clarity of suspension rather than brilliance. A thick, creamy white head forms readily and persists admirably, demonstrating quality carbonation and protein content. The effervescent nature creates a visually appealing and authentic representation of the style.

The nose is immediately inviting with prominent citrus notes, primarily orange peel and subtle lemon undertones derived from both the coriander and wheat components. Herbal and spice character emerges from the coriander addition, complemented by delicate floral notes and a gentle yeast-driven wheat presence. The aromatic profile is refreshing and approachable without being overly complex.

The palate opens with crisp, refreshing citrus flavors that establish the beer's character immediately, followed by the distinctive coriander spice warming the mid-palate. Wheat and oat components provide a smooth, slightly creamy mouthfeel with subtle sweetness that balances the restrained 21 IBU bitterness perfectly. The finish remains clean and light, never heavy or cloying.

The finish is clean and crisp, with citrus notes lingering pleasantly while the spice gently fades. The light body and moderate carbonation ensure no residual heaviness, leaving the palate refreshed and eager for the next sip.

Serve cold to preserve the delicate citrus and spice aromas. Too warm and the yeast esters become heavy — too cold and the coriander disappears.
