The Duke

Tap to rate

A nitrogenated stout named after Glasgow's Duke of Wellington statue with its traffic-cone hat. Softly roasted coffee, nougat and chocolate set the tone, with a slight touch of spiced fruit from the hops. It is roasty, bittersweet and smooth; the nitrogen gives a creamy, velvety texture. Extra pale malt, torrefied barley and roasted barley form the grist, and Saaz is the only hop. It joined the range in late 2023.

◎ Appearance

Deep brown to near-black in the glass, with a opaque body characteristic of a fully roasted stout. The nitrogen carbonation produces a dense, persistent head with a tight, creamy collar that clings to the glass walls. Lacing remains prominent throughout the drink.
