Einsiedler Weizen

Tap to rate

Yeasty with a banana-like fruit note, golden under a strong yeast haze: 60% wheat malt and 40% barley malt, brewed with Swiss hops, 5.0% ABV. Alois Gmür Jr. put the Bavarian wheat beer theory he learned at the Munich master brewers' school into practice in 2013. It was the first top-fermented beer in the brewery's history of more than 140 years.

Serve at 5–8°C

Slightly warmer than a lager — 8–12°C allows the banana and clove esters from the yeast to fully develop.

Weizen glass

Tall and narrow at the base, flaring at the top — designed to hold the abundant foam of a wheat beer while showcasing its hazy golden body.

Best fresh. The yeast-driven banana and clove character fades over time. Drink within 4 months.
